And the first thing we want to talk about is actually believing what evergreen means and the idea that it's not truly ever needing to be updated ever again.

And there are some instances where that might actually be the case for the majority of a topic or like a lesson that you're trying to teach.

but more often than not there's always kind of something new coming up and things that might need to change and so there's kind of this like one and done mentality the set it and forget it kind of deal and the the issue with that because as much as i love evergreen and as much as i love having creative videos eight years ago and they still get views which is amazing and still mind-blowing that something i did eight years ago somebody's still you know getting value out of and they're still good videos while there's a couple things that come up one you know i'm better on camera now than i was eight years ago two maybe i didn't fill in all the gaps in that information and then three some things might have changed now one of my main channels that i run called true financials i do a lot of tutorials and those do change on a fairly regular basis right where things are on a particular app And then every once in a while, like usually every three years, maybe four years, companies will do
like a huge revamp on their app, on their application, like old school

And so I have to get to, I get the opportunity to go back in and redo those videos all over again.

And sometimes that gets a little bit like, oh man, like I did such a good job the first time around, but also like what a great opportunity to kind of put myself back in there and like recreate this content.

But there's also this other part of updating content that I think is so fascinating that I really like.

So one of the things that I love to do when it comes to creating evergreen content, and I've shared this before in other episodes, and I kind of sneak it in here every once in a while that when you create evergreen content, There is no rule to say that you can't make that same evergreen content, even if it's still relevant in that video you made before to make it again, to update it, to make it a little bit better.

Maybe you just got better on camera, like we said, or maybe you just want to redo it because you just want to.

And so my thing is like, well, what does it look like to rank first and third or second and third or first, second and third? Because you made it three times over to be ranked on a particular topic or app or, you know, thing that somebody is searching for and I've actually done that several times over where there are certain tutorials that people are looking for in my myspace where I've actually went ahead and created multiple versions of that same video not like back to back to back but like a couple months apart or a little bit later down the road because I just wanted to update it for a couple different reasons for personally myself again most of that was like audio quality and whatnot But then I did notice that like both of those videos did well, like they both performed overall.

So it's not like forever, right? It's not like every video is going to be there forever.

There are some, like I said earlier, you know, I think about like what what is a checking account as an example for somebody in the financial space is like the first thing I can think of.

like what is a checking account generally will will mean the same thing now than it will in like 20 years but i also don't know like maybe in 20 years checking accounts are going to be a whole different ball game because you know look at what we have today in comparison to what we had 25 years ago when it comes to banking and all that stuff as well too so know just kind of something to keep in mind that just because you put it out once doesn't mean it's done you can always revamp it you can always need to maybe do an updated video and here's a really cool like trick i would say because i've had some people say well if a video is outdated like why not just delete it if it doesn't fit the bill anymore so to speak right like the app changed entirely Well, the issue is if they did do an update and it's pretty important, right? Like it's a big video.
you know,

So what I do is once that video is out, which is pretty quickly, I will go take that link to the new video and post it on the old video saying, hey, here's an update.

And the reason I do that is because most of the videos that are going to be ranking usually early on, like on an on a search are going to be older videos, like more often than not.

And the first thing we want to talk about is actually believing what evergreen means and the idea that it's not truly ever needing to be updated ever again.
