Green Party candidate LaVeta Davenport joins the show to discuss her campaign for Michigan’s First Congressional District. The conversation covers rural health care access, the rising costs of…
I truly believe that rural health care should not be determined by your zip code and neither about your financial status, access to quality.
Healthcare should be available to each and every person in the United States.
And so the very first area that we would want to tackle through the Green Party is that healthcare for all legislation.
We've been so close on many occasions, and this has been something that there's been a lot of accommodating to try to get that package pushed through but that is what we're seeing an overwhelming amount of individuals are in need of is the access to the healthcare not just through the physical buildings but also based on their eligibility and beyond financial eligibility or low income eligibility to get that health insurance so That would be the first thing is to get access through eligibility for all.
And then definitely a major factor is there's been a lot of rural hospitals that have been closed over the course of this administration.
Determining what type of health care someone should get, I think, is a major problem when we're talking about That being a political issue, we have issues of, and rape voices to make decisions about bodies and closing hospital spaces because they're providing access to abortion, access to preventative pregnancy is to me very absurd.
And so that is something that I will also be tackling and legislating and giving the opportunity to.
