I think people hear that word and get a little scared or iffy, especially maybe a young professional who's never done something like this.
And so what is networking, in your opinion, in the young professional space, and is it more than just sharing a business card, and is a business card even still relevant?
Um, and I think networking is a, a pretty strong buzzword, and we always hear it, um, but it's not that complicated.
I think it's just going and putting yourself out there and shaking the hand of someone else and be wi- being willing to listen and learn about them.
Um, I think the biggest advice I can give is just to continue asking questions about them and pay attention and learn about the ways that you can be beneficial to that person.
Um, and then definitely exchange contact information and make sure that that's not the last time that you meet up with that individual.
Grab coffee, spend time with them, um, learn about their craft, um, because at the end of it, it's just learning about a person.
Our jobs are important, um, but just the personal connection you make is so important.
Connect with them on social That's so easy, you know? And that's something we'll push on, too.
But, you know, networking does, while we do have a actual networking breakout that's gonna be a little more formal to help those who don't know how to network get some skills in that, it can be as easy as, "Hey, we're both washing our hands in the restroom, and you said something that I know about, and now we're besties." [laughs]
