You see from Michael Russo, came out the 28th, that although Kael McCarran, an eight-year, $20.4 million AAV, could serve as a reference point, the term is going to be different.
But Michael Russo says, everything I'm hearing from Quinn's side is that so far, he's given the Wilds every impression that his intention is to sign.
And the fact that it was Kale McCarr first, like we've spoken about here on the channel before, seeing the kind of ongoing back and forth between Quinn Hughes and Kael McCarr behind the scenes, not really knowing who was going to sign first if they were waiting for each other, Kael McCarr went and did it.
To put that into perspective, that is nearly the entirety of Sidney Crosby's contract earnings in the NHL over his career on this one contract.
it is insane but there's one thing now that has changed for the wild and that is what the price is going to be because i can guarantee you we thought that it was going to be something lower than 20 million i would have said 19 18 million in that range but not at all anymore and i'm not the biggest fan of that to be honest with you because we know how much the contract side of things have gone on in the past for this wild team and how much they've really plagued them in the past.
Now, I'm going to touch on a little bit later in this video why it is a bit of a different scenario compared to what we've seen with Zach Parise and Ryan Suter, but this is a new update that we have from Michael Russo.
But, if he waited until after July 1st to sign, which ultimately would be with another team if it were to be in a UFA scenario, he'd be allowed to max out at 20% of the 2728 cap, which is expected to be 113.5 million.
