When we go over a recent article from The Athletic, Joe Smith and Michael Russo put out some votes for the community, and it seems like everybody is on board with one thing in specific, and that is the linemates for Kirill Kaprizov.
Who is going to be the center? Now, this vote was, you know, Kind of interesting because I thought we would have seen a little bit more for Charlie Strammel, a little bit less for Ryan Hartman, maybe a little more for Joel Eriksson-Eck.
But I think what really surprised me was 41.1% of the vote from 4,671 votes went to Danil Yurov.
We've spoken about this before here on the channel, the availability of a center like Danil Yurov for Kirill Kaprizov.
I think their play styles will mesh very, very well, especially with the winger that we're going to touch on here in just a minute.
And it is something that I think a lot of people have been hoping to at least see how it works.
Having him go from pretty much the third line all season, first year being in the NHL, first year being a center, now immediately jump into the first line with Kirill Kaprizov and who however else will be on the wing, that's a very big leap, and I'm not saying Daniil Yurov will not be able to do it, because I think over time he will, but is this too soon, I think is the question for me, and even when we go back to last year, and look at what he's done, 27 points in 73 games played, not bad whatsoever, especially considering he was on the third line, but I think the biggest thing that matters about this right now, is not so much his season last year, but his history in the KHL, because he has, let's just call it five years in the KHL.
And I want to look at this as well, because this is what Joe Smith said about the top.
The 22 year old did have a solid rookie year going from a kid who seemed like he was a deer in headlights during prospect camp to a regular for most of the playoffs.
And I think by the time that we do see him next season, maybe at, you know, the end of the year, even to the start, we're going to see still another huge leap.
