**What happens when the clutter isn't really about the garage?**
This week, I'm joined by Anya, who thought she just needed help clearing enough space to park a car. Instead, we uncovered something much deeper.
As we organized her garage, we explored what happens when life gets so full of responsibilities that the parts of ourselves we love quietly get packed away alongside everything else. Together, we discovered that sometimes the hardest things to let go of aren't the objects themselves—they're the dreams, identities, and possibilities those objects represent.
Along the way, we talk about:
- Why some clutter is really a processing space.
- The hidden emotional labor of carrying responsibility for everyone else.
- How our values can sometimes make it harder to let things go.
- Finding the balance between caring for the planet and caring for yourself.
- Why "doing the perfect thing" can keep us stuck.
- The objects that quietly remind us of dreams we've put on hold.
- Making space for hobbies, creativity, and the next version of yourself.
- Why organizing is often less about the stuff than the story we've attached to it.
One of my favorite moments comes when Anya realizes that an old camera isn't just an old camera. It's a reminder of the person she was before becoming a parent—and permission to imagine who she wants to become now. Once she sees that, everything changes.
