This is a preview Episode. Listen to the whole show at hellofawayto.dad This week Carey is back as we enjoy a MASHCast interlude and watch the failed pilot WALTER starring Gary Burghoff Watch along…
And so I was aware, especially as longtime listeners will know, I do have the viewing habits of an 80-year-old shut-in somewhere at a YMCA in Outer Hoboken.
And so I oftentimes am looking for various different obscure TV shows and remakes and other bullshit to watch.
But this was one that I was aware of, but I had never actually...
And I knew that it was on YouTube.
The one episode was on YouTube.
but I had never actually sat down and watch it before because it does have video quality reminiscent of watching a movie that your uncle recorded over something that was over something else that was over something else on a VHS tape because you were used that motherfucker as many times as you could until like the goddamn spindles fell off.
Exactly.
It does have that really shitty, grainy aspect to it.
It's got the lines you get into.
You kids don't know about this, which are DVDs and you're streaming.
But like the actual tape itself would, if it was getting damaged, there'd just be like these weird digital lines that would be in it.
And the audio would be all kind of messed up and whatnot.
And this is some guy found a VHS of this and ripped it and put it onto YouTube.
And it's like the only... reminiscence of this that exists like that.
This does not exist anywhere else except for this one guy on YouTube.
So guy on YouTube, please don't ever, you know, disappear.
Please don't ever delete your account.
Um, because when this was, when this was released, it didn't even go out to like the pilot episode was released, but then it got, uh, in, in some of the Western, uh, on the West coast, it got preempted by something else.
So like half of America never got a chance to even watch this and it was never shown again.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was the rare pilot that didn't even get picked up for a single season.
Like it was just immediately buried.
Everyone looked at this and said, nah, nah, we don't want this now.
