Am I allowed to say in the US these days, industrial policy? You know, I mean, once upon a time, we built great things.
We still have the people who could build and invent great things willing to work here, willing to work with us, willing to share their knowledge and experience with us.
I think there's some pretty cool stuff that can come from having access to compute or whatever buzzword we're using now to define what it is these things provide for us.
The vague and hyperbolic assertions of AI dominance, a lot of that train has left the station, right? We have to go back to things like building more chips here, supporting...
We have to support the use of rigorous analysis to help answer these questions and not just sound bites and, you know, not count on the busy lives of people that they will ignore the stupid things we do to them.
The real question for us is whether we're going to be an AI backwater or just tied up in conflict.
or whether we're going to go back to a role that we really well established the last several decades of being the go-to place for better ways to live, more fun places to think, more opportunities to reap the rewards of your hard work.
