When everyone slaps "matriarchy" on a co-housing community, a leadership coaching course, and a business model without having the ACTUAL infrastructure, it dilutes both the meaning and the movement…

And today I want to talk about matriarchy as a marketing tool, because I've been seeing so many examples of people using both the word matriarchy and this new wave of feminism that we're seeing.

that we're calling matriarchy as a way to market their intentional communities or their leadership coaching.

And it makes me absolutely bonkers, honestly, because when I take a look and I mean, it only takes me about 15 seconds to see the tilt of looking to see that what they've got going on is not matriarchal and that they actually don't really have an idea of what matriarchy actually means.

I have a lot of conversations in my DMs with people reaching out to me, wanting me to know what they're doing.

And when I start to ask the deeper questions about legal structures and governance, it becomes apparent that what they're doing is not matriarchal and it's just another version of the triangle.

And when, you know, this is such an important movement, it's a movement so central to the survival of the human species and like all of it, right? Plants, animals, the critters.

And when I see it co-opted by capitalism to sell you something, I really want to scream.

Our connection to earth, to living systems, to moving money and other resources through relationship is sacred.

And it will not become another marketing tool, right? Another manipulative marketing tool.

It's an actual blueprint for a more compassionate and connected way of living, of existing together.

And the danger of matriarchy becoming a marketing tool is obvious, right? It becomes a gimmick in the same way that girl power, like feminism was co-opted as well, and it became girl power that you see put on a T-shirt or a hat, right? And when the kids were little, I remember looking at their clothing and being like, what the fuck is this? It's just this girl power and it's pink and sparkly and it's cute, right? And it just becomes another commodity.
