Before we start talking specifically about Alzheimer's disease, it's important to understand that dementia is not a single disease.

It's actually an umbrella term used to describe memory loss and changes in thinking that are severe enough to affect daily life.

There are several different types of dementia, with Alzheimer's disease being the most common that everyone knows and talks about.

And my dad, he has a, uh, probably the second most common that's called vascular dementia, and it's often linked to reduced blood flow in the brain-

... and usually it cause strokes, or they refer to as vascular conditions because it constricts the veins, and that's what happened with my dad.

Another common one is called Lewy bodies dementia, and it can cause changing in thinking, movement, and there... a person's alertness.

There's frontotemporal dementia, which primarily affects a person's language and their behaviors.

And there are hundreds of other different forms of dementia, including those associated with conditions such as Huntington's disease, and some individuals may have a mixture of several different types of dementias.

Have you noticed, Yolanda, that when you look at all of these vascular Lewy body Huntington's, all of these have a similarity.

So it's kind of hard to tell what type of dementia your, your loved one have unless you take them to the doctor, to a neurologist to be diagnosed, 'cause a lot of these kind of intertwine with each other-
