He Built his Business w/ YouTube (with a full-time job + family)

Yeah, so the journey's been kind of strange in that my skill set, I'm a mechanical engineer, and I kind of fell into professional teaching by accident.

And by professional teaching, I mean it was a specific software that engineers use.

It's called CAD.

It's for design and development.

And there's lots of brands out there.

And I happen to be working one called SolidWorks.

And I taught these classes.

And then I wanted to launch my own digital course.

And I did that.

It didn't have any success.

I sold like one, right, at $14 or something.

And then I happened to get a job working for one of the big CAD companies.

And they wanted me to be a technical marketer.

So I would make videos and stuff.

That's when I started a YouTube channel.

I sort of started it as just a little brand builder for my day job.

So it was kind of like, hey, I'm busy making all this content for their brands and their websites.

But they loved that we were all on our own little YouTube channels also making content.

So it just seemed like a natural way to like.

grow my skills and, you know, get a thumbs up from my manager.

I didn't think it would turn into much, but it just seemed like a fun thing to do at the moment.

So

it was your own channel, but you were using the tools from your...

My name,

my brand, but it was their CAD systems that I was promoting and they just viewed that as a win-win.
