Conor McGregor's long-awaited UFC return lasted just over a minute before a devastating knee injury brought the main event against Max Holloway to an abrupt end. What does this mean for McGregor's…
Including eight of them that would end in the very first round a record for modern era UFC and so this was absolutely one of if not the best fight cards of 2026 and in recent memory, but then the main event happened or should I say didn't really happen because with the very first strike attempted in the Conor McGregor versus Max Holloway main event and Conor McGregor would attempt a jumping left high kick, land improperly on his right leg, and it immediately would blow out.
And the fight would ultimately be stopped just 69 seconds into the very first round.
All of the anticipation.
all of the build-up all of the hype surrounding the return of the Mac Conor McGregor against a fan-friendly UFC legend in Max Holloway with an absolutely insane undercard that led up to it it felt as though we were in store for something special but in the end it actually would turn out to be one of the most anti-climatic uneventful and disappointing main events that i can ever recall you want to talk about feeling flat and having all of the energy drained out of you when watching a fight that is exactly what happened when that main event essentially started right out of the gate and so man i can only imagine if you were in attendance for that ufc 329 main event and that fight card as a whole i am so so very sorry for the money that you had to spend to get what you got in that final fight But I guess if you were there from start to finish, you did get to see a pretty badass card.
But damn, man, you know how many people go to these cards and don't show up until the main card or later into the main card? Oh my goodness, I would be sick.
And so it's just like, what do we even say here? What literally happened? I was left speechless.
That has only happened a few times since recording this podcast.
One time initially that comes off my head is when Leon Edwards knocked out Kamaru Usman.
And now this one here, Conor McGregor, after five years away, a devastating leg injury suffered in his most recent bout.
All of the outside of the cage antics and personal life animosity going down led to this.
This major comeback, something that Conor was calling the biggest, greatest comeback that the sport had ever seen.
Even Dana White would emphasize that statement.
And this is what we see come to fruition 13 years later after these two first met in the cage.
So for Conor McGregor, I don't know what you do here.
I don't know if we ever see him fight again.
I was already a doubter these last five years and I was proved wrong on this night.
So maybe he does decide to come back after this knee injury.
We don't, at least at the time I'm recording this, know the severity of it.
I've seen people speculate that it is a torn ACL.
I've seen other people and professionals say that it might not be a torn ACL, but rather a meniscus injury.
But regardless, we know that he's not fighting again in 2026.
