VNR #275: How to Convince People to Work Out.

So this is a question that somebody actually sent me directly for Lynchpin.

This person's in Lynchpin, but it's such a good general question that even though I'm gonna handle it with him, like this is...

I would like to get this to a broader audience, so here we are.

This is from Jeff W.

So he leads off with a bunch of stuff that people don't need to worry about, and then he says, "I think, uh, you know, I'm 45 years old.

I work 50 to 60 hours a week." Which by the way, that's brutal.

60 hours a week? Are you kidding me?

Wow.

Yeah.

"Three kids, a supportive wife, cooks delicious d- uh, meals and some sugary treats.

I've got a home gym.

I've been building it since 2012, and I've got everything that I need." Uh, let's see, "Enjoy the content, but what's..." Uh, "I love the, you know, explanations of workouts that, you know, anybody can approach them," et cetera, et cetera.

Anybody can do CrossFit.

"But what's so hard, my only problem, is trying to convince my friends and family to follow.

They say, 'Jeff, you do those crazy workouts.

I can't do that.' That's what I'm told all the time.

I try explaining about scaling, but it just falls on deaf ears.

I have friends who have a lot of health issues, and I know it would help them tremendously.

What would you do or recommend for me to convince them? Thank you very much.

I appreciate it." So...

I love it.

And, uh, I'll say first that I, I feel very strongly about this, and, uh, I, I may die on this hill, but there's no convincing anybody of anything.

That's where I'm gonna start.

And I have, have the same mindset.

And I think that you have to completely frame things in a different light if you truly want people to show up and join you.
