This episode revolves around the best ski passes for the upcoming season in Summit County, Colorado, focusing on the Epic and Ikon passes. The hosts discuss various factors influencing pass selection…
All right, so we're probably like a month away from Arapahoe Basin and Keystone opening, which is super exciting.
We're on the tail end of fall.
A lot of the trees have already turned, but it's still really gorgeous out.
But that gets my brain thinking about snow, which there was a very big lack of last season.
So I think I'm really, really excited for this ski and snowboard season coming up.
Probably more than I have been in a few years.
That gets me thinking, right? What pass to get? Is it Epic or Icon? I'd love to talk about, you know, what we think is the best pass if you have to choose one.
Yeah, what do you think?
Yeah, I think getting a pass is not as simple as it seems and choosing which one is right for you.
So I've been thinking about it, and I really think it just depends on your situation and who you are.
So number one, this is the way that I always go, real estate.
Do you own real estate in the mountains? So if you have a house in Breck, you're obviously going to get it.
So number one, I think, is proximity and real estate, you know, for ease of access.
And then number two for me is what are your friends getting? This is probably especially for like front rangers, but also for people that do live in Summit.
It's like you want to ski with your friends most likely.
So that's going to be a big deciding factor as well.
What do you think?
Yeah, I mean, good point.
I mean, I've already made my decision, but if I have to get one pass living in Summit, living in Silverthorne specifically, I have really good close access to A Bay, right? It's on the way and through Keystone, but A Bay is very close.
And then with the highway there, like getting to Copper is like a 15, 20 minute drive with no traffic.
So just like from a pure ease of access standpoint, like ICON really just made more sense.
Also, if you didn't know, the ICON base this year does come with unlimited days at A-Basin, which is a huge change from the last several years.
They do charge for parking now, which unless you're carpooling, there's a fee, I believe, and a reservation system.
So just keep in mind that the parking situation has gotten more difficult.
