The 46-year-old faces two domestic violence-related charges, including strangulation, following an alleged incident at a Noosa holiday property on Saturday night, and the allegations that were outlined during yesterday's hearing are pretty disturbing.

According to the prosecution's case, Wood and his wife had returned from dinner when an argument broke out over packing for their flight home.

The magistrate outlined allegations that Wood pushed his wife into a wardrobe before his adult stepdaughter intervened and told him to stop yelling.

Prosecutors allege Wood then grabbed his wife by the throat, threw her against a hallway wall and onto the floor, restricting her breathing.

The court has heard that the complainant told police that she couldn't breathe and feared she was going to die.

Prosecutors also presented photographs of the alleged injuries and referred to a recorded statement from the complainant.

The magistrate did refuse bail and is describing the prosecution case as relatively strong at this stage.

He has been remanded in custody until November 23rd, where his case is scheduled to return to court.

Prosecutors revealed police had attended Wood's Melbourne home around three years ago following an alleged incident involving choking.

The court heard the complainant didn't pursue a criminal complaint because she feared retaliation.

Prosecutors say police body camera footage and a report exist from that attendant.

It was definitely enough to keep him behind bars, and I guess we'll have to wait and see how this proceeds and what other details will come to light.
