So why does following your heart sound so good? Why is this something that the culture is pushing? I wanna share with you three famous quotes.

As I'm reading them, I want you to think, "Is this really true?" Because so many times when we hear something that we think sounds good, if we stop and take a moment to think about it, we'll realize it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

That is the lesson, and that lesson alone will save you a whole lot of grief." So how many of you, in a moment of anger, have ever lashed out at your siblings or your parents or even your friends? In that moment, it felt so good to get it off your chest and to tell them exactly what you thought, but was it the right thing? No.

[laughs] How about when somebody made you really upset or caused you a lot of pain? Did you feel like forgiving them? Probably not, yet God tells us to forgive.

I remember being in college, and I was going out to eat with the man who is now my husband, and I was working at a different restaurant at the time, so I thought I knew exactly how a restaurant should be run.

It was late at night, not many people in the restaurant, and my server was doing a pretty poor job.

And to make it worse, she was training somebody at the same time, and I let her know exactly what I thought right in front of the girl she was training.

The server started to cry, and it wasn't until that moment that I realized that I should have kept my emotions in check.

If I'd stopped to put myself in her shoes, I might have realized it was late at night.

Maybe something hard was going on in her life, and she was just trying to get through her shift.

I'm so thankful I learned from that day, because that was the last time anything like that ever happened.

It was in that moment, as a new Christian, that I realized I can't treat people like that.

And as you can see, if we do what feels right in the moment, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is right.
