Lie #4: I Need Their Approval-with Aaron Keel: Lies of the Enemy Series

Yeah, that's awesome.

So you say that you finally fully gave your life to Jesus.

Did you grow up in a Christian home?

Oh, yeah.

I grew up in a Christian home.

My mom would send me all the devotionals, all the verses.

I had gotten in trouble multiple times, many times in high school.

We had snuck out and drove without a license and ended up getting caught by the cops.

And my punishment was trying to find a verse in the Bible to get my phone again.

And it took me a while to find that.

But yeah, my parents were very adamant about me coming to Christ and knowing Jesus as my Lord and Savior.

I never really understood it.

You were walking through that season.

You went to youth ministry growing

up? Not really because I was always playing baseball.

Gotcha.

There are probably some teens that are listening that are saying, I'm just faking it.

I'm just faking it just to... kind of riding off of my parents' faith, not really owning it for myself.

Like, what would you say to those teens that are kind of in that spot right now?

Yeah, I think the biggest thing that, for me, that would help me from fully experiencing what God had for my life was not going all in on Him and, you

know,

kind of withholding back.

And I guess, I guess really, um, just not knowing truly who I was in Christ.

I didn't know my identity in Christ.

I didn't know the significance that the Creator of the universe wanted a relationship with me, that He called me His child, but He says I'm already accepted in Him.
