Anna's back with more Reddit Stories, and this time they're centered around Farmer's Markets! We get into pro-tips of how to be successful at your first market, how to tell a good market from a bad…
So our first story is from user Lumpia Rules 101.
What's up, Lumpia? So I've always been a sweets person.
Over the past year, I've been experimenting with different crinkle cookie flavors as well as butter mochi.
Hmm.
I've brought it into work dozens of times for coworkers, as I'll end up just eating it all myself if I don't.
Sounds familiar.
Everyone has loved
them so far.
I
have a friend who owns a restaurant, and when I told her about the idea of me selling some baked goods at the farmer's market, she said I could use her kitchen for the commissary kitchen requirement, which luckily we don't have to deal with in New Hampshire.
We're lucky that we can do homesteading baking.
Yeah, I'm honestly pretty excited about getting to meet more local people, selling them my cookies, etc.
But I'd be lying if I wasn't nervous.
I'm pretty much starting from complete scratch, as in I don't have the supplies, don't know how I'm going to set up the booth, etc.
I know I'll need to get insurance as well.
I have until early June to prepare.
I also signed up for every other week instead of every week as I'm really not sure how this is going to work out.
I'm nervous primarily because I worry that somehow I will get someone violently sick.
I have anxiety, so I tend to catastrophize things.
And I worry slash have these intrusive thoughts of me setting up my stand and absolutely no one stopping by the whole entire day I'm set up there.
Any advice to calm myself down? Honestly, like I said, I'm more excited than nervous, but I'm certainly am nervous as well.
I basically feel like I'm the equivalent of a little boy setting up a lemonade stand with all the other vendors who actually know what they're doing.
Yo, been there, done that.
So I thought that would be a great one to start off with because that's also how we felt when we first started the farmer's market.
