So what we have been fighting over the course of the last year, primarily on the Save Our Bacon Act, is to prevent it from being included in the U.S. Farm Bill.

And the Farm Bill is this massive billions and billions of dollar bill, thousands of pages long, that is supposed to be passed every five years, that has everything from subsidies to SNAP, which is the food assistance program, and a whole host of everything that touches the animal agriculture and agricultural industry.

It's this massive bill that's passed every five years.

And what they're trying to do is sneak the language of the Save Our Bacon Act into the farm bill in order to sneak it through Congress.

Snap enrollment has plummeted since last year.

Well, since federal changes to SNAP took effect last year, Arizona has cut a greater share of participants from the program than any other state.

Now, the city of Phoenix is offering support to families who've lost those benefits.

Here's Catherine Davis-Young telling us how.

The City of Phoenix doesn't administer SNAP or approve benefits, but the city's Human Services Department wants to lend a hand to help people navigate recent SNAP changes.

The department is offering one-on-one assistance to help families complete SNAP applications and understand work requirements for the program.

In a statement, Mayor Kate Gallego said too many Phoenix families have been losing benefits just because of paperwork and red tape.

Residents can book an appointment online or they can get walk-in assistance during normal business hours at City of Phoenix Family Services Centers.

Yeah, I hadn't realized that either.

You've seen also, I know, SNAP benefits, which seniors rely on to some degree, be cut over the last six months or so.

Are people openly talking about that? When they call you, are they speaking specifically to how it is they've ended up here? You mentioned high utility bills.

That combined with a lack of benefits is sort of a perfect storm, is it not?

Sure, SNAP is often part of a much larger struggle to cover basic living expenses.

On a fixed income, even a modest reduction in food assistance can force difficult choices between necessities.

For an older adult living primarily on Social Security, losing $20, $30, $50 a month can mean buying less fresh produce, choosing less expensive foods, or stretching groceries further between benefit payments.

And are these seniors willing to acknowledge that they're isolated or lonely when they call you?

It's not an exaggeration to say that President Trump has uncovered the greatest heist in human history, and it was the taxpayer getting fooled and getting robbed.

This most recent surge that you've just discussed there, the snap surge, this was a 50-day surge where we focused on those who were defrauding snap.

And Laura, if there was ever a program that a fraudster might say, that's too noble, that's too compassionate, it helps too many people, I'm not going to take from it, it would be SNAP.

This is a program that makes sure that food gets on the table of our needy families tonight in America.

These are crimes that result in a mother in the grocery store trying to buy milk and eggs, swiping her card with her SNAP benefits to find that a fraudster has depleted her account by stealing her account.

So there she is in line with her kids with no money trying to bring home her milk and eggs.

But a fraudster has taken them.

Let's say that you have broken your arm and you go to the emergency room needing urgent care, but there are 20 people ahead of you in line.

All right, enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as SNAP, has dropped over the last year due to restrictions set by the Trump administration.

Data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture shows the number of people who received food stamps fell from 42 million in July of 2025 to around 36 million in June of 2026.

That is a 13% decrease.

First, federal health care offenses and related crimes involving health care benefit programs or fraud against patients or other in the health care industry.

According to the press release, the program places a particular emphasis on submissions involving hospice, health care, home health care, daycare and special services fraud.

Now, if you look at the payment side of it, and if you accept there will at least be a few, you know, one of the things we talked about a lot when I was at Square was, well, we want merchants to be able to get paid in any way that their customers want to pay.

So, hey, it's really important for the mom and pop shop to be able to accept Amex as well as Visa, as well as Snap EBT benefits.

And how do we make it easy for them to do that? So on the payment side, it's the same problem, right? If you're a merchant and agents are paying with stable coins and your agent's like, hey, I can only buy these shoes with USDG, that merchant doesn't want to turn that agent or person away, right? And so again, you're going to need to accept those assets.

Now, from the consumer standpoint, right? I think it's clear why enterprises would either accept or want their own stable coin from a consumer standpoint.
