The majority of us, especially social workers, I feel like this is really true for the social work field, that I kind of drilled into me that I didn't get into this job to make money.

My passion does not actually pay my bills, provide health care, or let me take a vacation.

being in grad school, that being said by multiple professors, well, we didn't get into this job to make money.

And I hate that was said, because I think it just reinforced that mindset of, I don't get to even consider the fact that maybe I am worth more.

That maybe I should not just have a livable wage, but a wage that makes me have the life that I want.

I talk with therapists who have their own practice and they're like, I just need to like have my needs met and maybe some nice things and I'm okay.

If you're a therapist who wants to have more than just the bare minimum when it comes to money, then like you must be a shitty human.

I don't think I've ever heard directly a client say, you're a bad person because you charge X amount of money per session.

But talking with strangers or talking with friends, there is this mindset of therapy should be accessible to people and you're making it harder for it to be accessible.

And yes, I understand some people hate capitalism, but unfortunately, that's the system we are in.

in order to have the quality of life that I think we all deserve, we kind of have to play the game.

I think healthcare should be accessible, but I don't think doctors should get paid less.
