But you don't have to actually follow that rule.
10:48
Yeah.
10:49
So I actually had a coach once tell me and it completely flipped the way that I view how much associate therapist should be paid or newer therapist should be paid.
10:57
Because when we first started growing, we had an associate therapist.
11:00
I was like trying to figure out, like, what should this therapist rate be? Right.
11:03
Like, how much should we be charging per session? And she was like, well, is she offering a discounted value? Like, is her therapy not good? If it's not, then why are we discounting it? And I was like, dang.
11:16
You're right.

20:22
And if out of everything, why wouldn't you want to
3:20
Mm-hmm.
3:20
You know, it's not gonna be found in the DSM.
3:22
There's no diagnostic code for that.
3:25
It's more so just a term that I think has popped up in order to give us language to a lot of experiences that a lot of people have.
3:32
And so when I think of high-functioning anxiety, it's going to be the folks who, on paper, everything is great.
3:40
You know, they, quote-unquote, "are functioning," right? Like on the outside is going the way that it's supposed to go, in air quotes for everyone who's listening.
3:49
You know, they got the career.

20 MINS LATER

23:48
Mm-hmm.
10:05
For people you've worked with who struggle with high-functioning anxiety, do you notice a common theme or trend in their earlier life that might have played a role in why they developed it?
10:16
There's two common ones, I feel like.
10:18
One is people were forced into that role of needing to show up in a parentified manner.
10:24
And by forced, I mean maybe a parent, like they were in a single house, like a single-parent household, or they lived with emotional immature parents or parents who weren't available or whatever.
10:36
There was a reason why they were kind of forced into that role.
10:38
I also see another really common trend or theme that I see is that they were just celebrated a lot.
10:45
They were often the mature one, the old soul, the person, the kid that the parents never had to worry about, all that kind of stuff.
14:28
What is your kind of way that you work with clients who have high-functioning anxiety?
