**097: 7 Lessons From A Sub-57 Teacher | Luke Brotherton** **Today Ben and Jackson are joined by a very special guest; Luke Brotherton. Luke teaches all day, and by night he's in the Army Reserves…
Luke BrothertonGuestJacksonHostBenHostLook, I wanted to talk about as well your training method and philosophy, I guess, as well, because I was really interested by this the first time we met each other, 98, Riley, when you invited me over for that sesh.
I was like, oh, where's your heart rate monitor and where's your fuel? And you were like, oh, I don't take fuel during a session and I don't wear a heart rate strap.
You almost looked at me like I was an alien with all these fucking devices and stuff.
This shit on, you're like, yeah, like, Jackson, I'm a way better athlete than you anyway.
Like, shut up.
Not at all.
Yeah, yeah.
Because I lean more towards, like, feel, especially for high rocks training nowadays.
Like, when I go into a race, I'm like, okay, how do I feel in the moment? I don't fucking look at my watch or anything like that anymore.
Because at the end of the day, it's how you can manage yourself throughout the race.
That's how you're going to perform at the end of the day.
So I think that's really smart, too.
So, yeah, please go into it and your philosophy on

So I'm going to address the fueling thing first because I feel like I've kind of like since that first time we trained, I've changed that a lot.

I've been way more proactive about fueling in sessions that aren't that long, for example, whereas before I used to be like, I don't really need to fuel if I'm like training for less than 90 minutes.

Whereas now I'm kind of like, even though I don't need to fuel, doing it is going to benefit me.
