On this episode of the TrainHybrd Podcast, Ben and Jackson dive into the world of trail running and why it's a completely different beast to pounding the pavement. From technical terrain and…
Well, we are going to be talking about Ben's recap of Magnetic Island, the half marathon.
That felt like a marathon.
As well as that, we will be going into trail running specifically because Magnetic Island, the race he did was a half marathon trail race.
So pretty brutal, but also the positives of trail running and how trail running can help your performance improve.
You know, I actually haven't thought about a race so much after a race than that race.
Really? Yeah, like, I don't know.
I just kind of want to go back and do it again.
Oh, so you enjoyed it? It was hard, because there was only like 110 people in the race.
Well, doing the half.
There's 500 people in total, but it was just quiet.
And there was moments where I was like by myself and it was just nice.
In the bush.
And they said at the start we weren't allowed headphones, not even like one.
And so I gave my headphones to my mom and then we left.
Then they made a correction.
Actually, you are allowed one.
we'd already gone the half marathon
had already gone you're allowed that's such a weird rule you're allowed so you can still yeah
but like and in the end all these people pulled out fucking bone condensing guns and I'm like I fucking hate you all I was just like it was in so much agony I'm like I really could do with some music yeah yeah but now I just had to lock into my thoughts
yeah that's not fun No.
I remember after, I've said this on the podcast ages ago, but for my key marathon session when I was doing a 30K tempo run, it was a 2K warm-up, 30K tempo, 2K cool-down at like around goal marathon pace.
And within the first 10 minutes of the 30K, my AirPod fell out and I just left it for dead.
I didn't even go back and pick it up.
No.
And then I had one and it died like the next 20 minutes and I was like, holy fuck, I'm locked into this for the next hour and 30 minutes.
