Why Knowing the Right Thing Isn’t Enough? | Numbers 11:10-15

And Pastor Kelly started us our first week with Joseph, and then Pastor Mason preached last week on Jonah.

And this week, I'm talking about one of the most important people in all of Scripture.

We're going to learn from the life of Moses.

Moses's life spans not chapters of one book, but spans books.

It's the entire first five books of the Bible.

Moses shows up at the beginning of the second one in the book of Exodus.

And we pick up his story as he is kind of leading the people and beginning the nation of Israel.

He's considered the author and editor of these first five books of the Bible.

And we're going to pick up here in Exodus chapter 18.

But before we start reading from that, I want to give you a little context to where we are joining Moses in his life, in case you've never watched the Prince of Egypt or the Ten Commandments.

So Moses, born to a slave woman, put into a basket, put down, sent down the river, and then raised inside of the king's palace.

It's kind of like a co-prince of Egypt and then actually ends up killing one of the Egyptians to defend his Jewish people.

That sends him into exile in the desert where he's there for a bunch of decades.

He sees a burning bush.

He gets called by God.

He goes back.

He tells the Pharaoh to let my people go.

And then the 10 plagues, they go out into the desert.

They've gone through the Red Sea and God's provided all of these things.

But he's basically the sole leader and decider of for at least 30,000 people.

Now the Hebrew numbers get a little tricky.

So anytime there's like a discrepancy, I always go lower.

Cause you don't, you know, I'm not trying to be evangelistic.

It was like, how many people were there? It was like 500.

Really? It was like, well, there's 475.
