If for some reason you are watching this or listening to this, but you don't know what King of Drag is, what is the TV show? Can you give us some

And I hate to compare Drag Kings to Queens, but RuPaul's Drag Race aired 16 years before King of Drag started, and it's long overdue.

Um, and it had international submissions, uh, uh from all over the world very like shot in a home bedroom situation like truly kings have been doing things on a dirt cheap budget for a long time so it's nice to see even a little bit of money yeah be put into the drag king community and since this particular show king of drag was released it's surpassed 32 million views and there's been watch parties and various other things I wanted to

pick up something on what you just said that while we don't want to, we don't want to keep comparing the Queens and the Kings.

I think even when this season one came out, I was very much aware of how much we were comparing it to RuPaul's Drag Race.

But I think actually, as you said, RuPaul's Drag Race came out 16 years before this and it is, infiltrated and affected the culture like so completely and that it's really hard to view this show without the context of RuPaul's Drag Race.

And I think as we go into talking more about the show, we'll see they have deliberately taken inspiration and even structure and even what has worked about RuPaul's Drag Race, I believe, into this show.

So while we're not just sitting here, I don't want it to seem like it's just a spin-off of RuPaul's Drag Race, I think it's hard to talk about King of Drag without talking about RuPaul's Drag Race.

So the structure of other shows like Dragula or Call Me Mother or House of Drag, which is a New Zealand show from like 10 years ago.

those shows have had drag kings win them and have had drag kings and drag things because Toddy won Call Me Mother too.

But all of these shows have had very different setups than RuPaul's Drag Race and King of Drag.
