Okay, last week we ended our time in Matthew together with the beautiful phrase or invitation from Jesus.

The idea of Jesus inviting us to come to him to take his yoke or that farming equipment to, like an oxen, be yoked up to be able to pull the plow behind it, to take his yoke upon us, for his yoke is easy and his burden is light, and that if we come to him, we will find rest for our souls.

How many of you want that from the Lord? You want that rest? For your soul, you want to take his yoke upon your life.

And as he closed his message, he said, here's what that righteousness looks like that fulfills the law and the prophets.

So difficult, Jesus said, that it's like entering the narrow gate and walking on the difficult way.

What kind of promises did he give to his people? What kind of future did he predict for his team? He said, I'm sending you out as sheep among wolves.

He promised them that they would draw the ire of the world, that many would turn against them.

He predicted that for some of them, their own families would be divided by the presence of Christ within their lives.

And that some of them would have to even endure the physical persecution similar to the prophets of the Old Testament era.

So when Jesus comes along in Matthew chapter 11 and says, Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
