Microsoft is merging the consumer and commercial versions of Copilot into a single app but is your corporate data governance ready? At the same time, they've launched an AI security platform where…
Uh, this was announced back in spring, but, uh, Microsoft has actually started the rollout of this now, and I've seen this banded around the media in the last couple of days.
And I don't know whether Microsoft has actually said this, uh, but some people are calling it, uh, calling it a new Copilot Super App.
[laughs]
Uh, I, I don't know whether that's something whether the media made up or whether Microsoft has actually said that.
So the idea is basically that before, if you were using the consumer version of Copilot, uh, and the, uh, commercial version for Microsoft 365, uh, you would basically have two different apps.
And now this is all getting rolled into one super app where you'll be able to essentially switch between accounts rather than having to switch between apps.
Uh, and Microsoft is promising that there are gonna be some changes to the app as well.
Uh, I think they're using a u- a new URL, uh, to c- to, to get access to the web version of the app, uh, kind of standardizing on changes they made to other Office apps, I think already maybe a couple of years ago now.
Um, so what else is happening? So apart from the fact that it's all coming into one kind of unified app, app experience.
Uh, so if you're on the commercial version, then you still have access to the researcher agent.
Uh, so I'm not quite sure how the researcher agent differed from the kinda consumer deep, deep research.
Uh, and as for podcasts, I know that was a big thing a f- you know, a couple of years ago when Gemini had this feature, you know, where you could essentially just turn any piece of text into a interesting podcast and everybody was like, "Wow, this is amazing." Uh, and then, you know, once the novelty of that wore off, didn't really hear much about it ever again from the Google side either.
I know we talked, uh, last month that you use Anthropic as well for stuff, uh, that you do at home.
But f- from my point of view, at least the app, uh, that's available in Windows, and I think the same goes for the web version, it's pretty clunky and slow and buggy.
[laughs] If I load a chat, especially a chat that's a bit longer, sometimes it just doesn't load the chat at all.
And another very annoying thing about it, if I have a chat, some research or something going on there, and then I maximize another window over the top of it, and then I switch back to the Copilot app, it has to reload the whole conversation for some reason, which is a bit irritating.
