This Week in Business: Trump accused of treason and Dubai's Michelin guide sparks backlash

So, Tom, you recently sat down with Tucker Carlson and Abu Dhabi.

What a flex.

And to say he didn't hold back would be a massive understatement.

He even accused President Trump of treason.

Yeah, it's been quite an eventful week.

So treason is a heavy word.

I think I'm sure anyone can work that one out.

But especially from a guy who was once the primary intellectual voice for Trump's America First movement.

But it's more than just a good headline.

And I know that's a humble brag.

But his core argument goes way deeper than that.

Because he made the point that the Americans basically, as far as he would argue, got dragged into a voluntary destructive war with Iran strictly because Trump bowed to pressure from Israel.

says the conflict

from day one had nothing to do apart from harm American interests.

And he didn't mince words about the economic fallout either, did he?

No, not at all.

I mean, he didn't mince his words at any point, I don't think.

But he, yeah, so he pointed to the daily MSL alerts across the GCC, which I'm sure we can all remember quite vividly.

But aside from that, the impact on global supply chains, spiking energy prices and the weakening of the US dollar as a reserve currency.

His point is, I suppose, to put it simply, what's actually been achieved? You know, if you look at it now, the Iranian regime is still in power, and if anything, today, more authoritative domestically than it was before.

The Houthis in Yemen, they're emboldened, as we'll go into a little bit later on.

And the region is vastly more unstable than it was this time last year.

So, in Tucker Carlson's view, America took on all this pain, all this cost, for zero benefit, entirely at the behest of Israel, a foreign power.

Now, Carlson has known Trump personally for over 20 years, if I'm not mistaken, and considers him as a friend.
