So this was from like May and a lot has changed since this person emailed in, but basically the context of this was a teacher mailed in with like a really weird thing that was happening in their school.

then emailed later to say um actually they'd left the school because it had got so weird and so bad that they just said forget it and they just left without a job to go to they just said i can't do this anymore which is obviously like horrible and like awful that that should happen um but look it happens anyway and this person has now been interviewing and they sent us an email with a so they said and i thought about pushing this off till like january and interview season and stuff like that but but also this person is trying to get jobs right now so i think it's only reasonable to discuss it and i thought it was interesting as well so um i had one interview the day after would come to an agreement that my contract would end when i basically hadn't slept for two weeks they're possibly not a peak performance the actual teaching interview went okay but in my chat with the head he seemed concerned that as it was a maternity cover that i shouldn't give up my permanent post for it or maybe that i was expecting a permanent job after i just got the feeling that he didn't think i was a good fit for maternity cover and he actually said it would suit someone who was retired better so we'll move on to the second paragraph in a second but that blows my mind i sound illegal
But you know, if you have to put a maternity post out or a temporary post as a school, you're crapping yourself that you're not going to get some good candidates walk through the door because it's temporary.
So if you get somebody walking through the door who can teach a lesson and do a good job, you bite their hand off.

Like, oh, you know, I know you're applying for maternity cover, but that's not really what you're looking for.
And they offered me the maternity post because somebody literally said, oh, well, you've got some candidates in the building.
