Listen, this is turning out to be one of the most fucked up stories that I've ever covered, and that's saying a lot.

So after a back and forth all day, Tennessee has now tried to put to death the first woman in like a century in the state and has botched it.

Tennessee unable to carry out the execution by lethal injection of Christa Gail Pike.

Tennessee officials were unable to put Christa Gail Pike to death for a nineteen ninety-five murder on Wednesday, according to media and witnesses.

Now, we have yet to hear from the Tennessee Department of, uh, Corrections, who is in charge of carrying out the execution.

This was hours after courts considered a last-minute appeal of what would have been the state's first execution of a woman in at least two hundred years.

Pike, who is fifty years old, had been scheduled for execution for a killing she committed at age eighteen after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned an appeals court ruling that stopped the lethal injection just an hour before it was set to start.

She was supposed to die this morning, and a circuit court put a halt on her execution.

Pike could be heard loudly snoring, and the curtain was closed again at eight O six PM.

Tennessee Department of Corrections spokesperson Dorinda Carter told media witnesses she was unable to immediately provide information about what happened.
