The Commercial Appeal

They interviewed two ABC producers, Charlie Thompson and James Cole.

They both claimed that when a local reporter named E.B. Blackburn... who wrote for a Memphis outlet called Commercial Appeal, which still exists.

It's a USA Today property.

Found out that they had copies of Elvis's toxicology report.

They did all the things they were supposed to do in pursuit of this story.

And then ABC News comes to town and one, decides this story is a way bigger deal than it is.

And two, starts telling local news outlets that commercial appeal dropped the ball when it comes to reporting on the death of Elvis.

And so, again, it comes down to who do you trust, which brings us back to the Dr. Nick interview.

Earlier this summer, demolition began at the old Commercial Appeal Building on Union Avenue.

The site is slated to become the home of the new Regional 1 Hospital, budgeted for at least $900 million, but the price tag could go higher.

The plan would replace the hospital's existing campus in the medical center, some of which dates back to 1943.

The site, the former Commercial Appeal Building, that was bought by the county, is that correct?

They own it, yes.

And, and so that, that was like, it was just he was clearly mad at me and what it didn't ma- I could have asked about anything.

I could have said, "Hey, John, uh, Gary Parrish, Commercial Appeal.

How's your wife?" And he'd have been like, he'd have had something to come back at me about it.

Mm-hmm.

And it, it, yeah, go ahead.

I, I, I'm just remembering another one that pops in my head.
