Ever wonder what happens when being a successful singer forces you to figure out who you actually are? Deanna Breiwick joins your humble host for a chat about authenticity, anxiety, boundaries, vocal…
Deanna BreiwickGuestRobert BosworthHostI mean, you kind of brought up a topic that makes sense for us to talk about.
And that is I feel like, you know, we've never actually met in person, dear listener.
But I feel Deanna is another one of these people that I feel like I know because of our Instagram shenanigans and the messages that we have received.
So I don't know this for a fact, but I've always sensed that you just don't really have a hard time being in touch with and in tune with yourself and what you need in a given, like when you said you're taking the time, you can feel that shift or that transition to what you're needing.
Now I would imagine that, that a lot of that comes, I can't know this, but a lot of that comes with all the stuff your body is going through right now, just happening maternally, maternalistically.
My wife is, if she listens to this one, I was going to think, why don't you know any of this by now? It's
a few years, right? But even before that, I mean, just something that always strikes me through all your posts and encouragement is the ability to be very in tune with oneself and what one might need to give themselves in any given moment or season.
Would you say that's an accurate strength of yours? And part B, has that always come very naturally to you?

I tend towards being an anxious person, which I really didn't recognize or acknowledge until the last couple of years because it was just so my normal way of being.

And so then stepping into a career that is very high pressure, very unstable, of course, that anxiety was activated.

And so naturally, I just started researching and looking for ways to know myself, ways to cope, ways to self-soothe.

And I started doing that really in when I was back at Manus doing my undergrad.

And, you know, growing up, I wasn't really in an environment where I was really encouraged or allowed to express all the emotions and all the feelings.

And that's part of what kind of led me onto the stage was that was an outlet.
