Before that holiday, Brian Chesky had just picked up Neil Gabler's biography of Walt Disney.
What did he find? Well, back in the 1930s, Walt Disney was largely making very short animated films, those Mickey Mouse films that we all loved.
But Disney knew that the approach they had always used for their short films would never be good enough to get all the details of a full length story in place.
That's when he invented the concept of storyboarding, drawing out the film's key scenes as a sequence of panels, almost like a comic strip, before any actual filming happened.
It let the director, the animator, and everyone else working on the film work out the whole story on paper first and catch the gaps before they cost time and money on the set.
