Jonny, and Joel break down their plans for the pending release of Minecraft 26.3 Wilderness Bound, coming September 15! Plus, listener email about tethering in game pets. Show notes for The Spawn…
Because moving on into the news, Wilderness Bound has a release date announced.
It's coming tomorrow.
This was announced via a series of social media posts.
It was just a series of social media posts that arrived on September 10th, announcing that 26.3 Wilderness Bound will be released on Tuesday, September 15th.
So in anticipation of that, we have two release candidates for Java Edition this week.
The first was published on Thursday, September 10th with just four bug fixes.
Items with the weapon component with disable blocking for seconds set no longer disable items with the blocks attacks component.
In related news, axes could no longer disable shields.
The match block loot predicate always requires a block entity and throwing enderpearls at blocks at a specific angle allowing the player to briefly see through blocks.
All four of those got fixed in Release Candidate 1.
When Release Candidate 2 came around on Friday September 11th there was only one bug fix which was clicking a button that opens a folder freezing the game until the folder was opened.
That's been resolved in Release Candidate 2.
We might get another one later today, but if not, we can assume that the update should arrive as normal on Tuesday.
We'll have a version of our show notes linked in the public Patreon post for this week's episode, since our website is still experiencing a few technical issues.
But if you want to check out the Release Candidate changelogs, you can also find them over at Minecraft.net.
I mean, I'm pleasantly surprised that wilderness bound is coming out sooner than we anticipated.
And, uh, I think that's great for giving, uh, some breathing room for, uh, Minecraft dungeons.
It also, uh, I think as you mentioned, um, gives everybody that was in this holding pattern, like a reason to jump forward.
Obviously I have a few performance mods on the server that I have to wait to update, but they usually update within a day or two because they have access to the release candidates and it's a Fabric based platform for my mods.
I could try Fabric builds, All throughout the snapshots if I wanted to try to keep up with the mods, but it's just a lot of admin on my side.
So I just wait for everybody to update and I'll probably update at the bare minimum.
So whenever the performance server side mods are ready to go, I'll probably jump in and then I can go through and I do this once in a while where I'll audit the quality of life mods.
