After the most dramatic, most divisive day in Irish football for a quarter-century… a football game. Gavin Bazunu was not a part of the Irish squad, Ireland bowed their heads for the Israeli anthem…
Ken EarlyHostEoin McDevittHostCiarán MurphyHostit matter, though, in the grander scheme of things, whether or not Ireland actually won the game of football tonight?

yeah i think it does matter it i think it definitely matters too i mean it matters a lot it certainly seemed to matter a lot to the manager who we've just seen um in the in the press conference yeah i
guess there are two two different parts to that question it's it's a fixture that never should have gone ahead that we've talked about ad nauseam and for anyone who felt strongly that it shouldn't have gone ahead whether Arden won 3-0 or lost 10-0 doesn't actually make any difference what you're talking about is more the feel within the squad which if a defeat had been layered on top of everything else all the tensions that we know have been at play over the last couple of days probably would have been magnified and it's a different feeling I still think it's going to be a very interesting few days to see what happens with some of the other players who voted against actually fulfilling this fixture because we've got another one to come next week But there's maybe a slightly different glass there when they've actually got the feeling of winning a football match.

I think there is, you know, I mean, because I was sitting watching it and I felt the result here does feel important to me.

You know, I know that over the last while it's been like the result doesn't matter.

you know and that's that's all that's all true but if you're playing the game if the game is on in front of you it suddenly becomes it's important it's better to win this game than to lose it and they gave a performance which i was not expecting grimly focused um i've honestly i haven't seen an arch team express that superiority over an opponent ever I honestly can't remember the last time.

But in terms of the way that they dismantled the Israeli team here inside 25 minutes, I don't remember seeing that.

In fact, I was reading it thinking, is there some kind of satire element here that I'm not quite picking up? Because this is kind of so strange.

Then their national team coach, Hamer Hallgrimson, came up with this instant little gem, mentions Hallgrimson's controversial... genocide remark.
