Today we react and review what JJ Picollo did this year at the trade deadline and then talk about a realization we had about the Royals future sucess... Watch The…
So first things first, the Royals trade deadline was a few days ago, August 3rd, and in anticipation for this deadline, we really-- Royals fans really didn't think they were gonna make some huge moves, like moving Michael Wacha, moving Seth Lugo.
We kinda realized they didn't wanna trade them, even though this has been a really tough season, and it feels like we should sell.
So we weren't expecting that.
What we were expecting were for the Royals to move all of their rental players, because if you don't know, if you don't get rid of players who are gonna become free agents in a year where you're not contending, then you're just paying those guys for nothing, essentially.
Um, unless for some reason you think you have a really good chance to re-sign them, or I don't know, maybe they're close on an extension with some of these players, but it doesn't seem likely, at least for most of them.
So yeah, that's what was expected.
And so I'm gonna split this into two different categories.
I'm gonna talk about what we did do, and I'm gonna give us a grade over the moves that we made, and then I'm gonna talk about what we didn't do, and I'm also gonna give a grade on that, which might not make sense right now, but trust me, I'll get there.
