The Tension of Transition by William Hutson

[upbeat music] First, Numbers 33:48-49 says, "And they departed," talking about the Israelites, talking about their camps, "And they departed from the mountains of, of Abarim and pitched in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.

And they pitched by Jordan from Beth-" [piano music] That place, "Even until Abel-Shittim in the plains of Moab." That place, I'm sure it's important, but it's not important to my message today, so y'all can sound it out when y'all get home and figure it out.

[piano music] This camp in the plains of Moab was the last campsite of Israel before they crossed over the Jordan River.

And they would stay here for a few months, and some critical events would happen while they waited there.

Other versions call Abel-Shittim, it means the meadow of the acacia grove.

And the meadow was a place of transition for Israel.

It was a place of protection, but also a failure, of refocus, instruction, victory, and promise.

And after they left the meadow of the acacia grove, they would never be the same again.

I went to bed Monday evening, thought I knew what I was preaching, had been thinking on something for a couple of weeks, a couple thoughts had kind of started coming together, and I felt confident that this is the direction I'm going.

And started kind of thinking about it, and I woke up Tuesday morning, something that doesn't really happen to me, first thing as soon as my feet hit the ground, I felt in my spirit new season and transition.

And, and I don't say this lightly, but I, I believe I came with a prophetic word for the church and for some of you individually in this place, that some of you have been in a, in a season of transition.

You've been in a place of t- of tension, but I believe God's put you there on purpose, and God knows what He's doing.

[applause] And God's about to bring some people to a new place.

Everybody say new season.

I'll be preaching today the tension of transition.

Let's go to the Lord in prayer.

Lord, we thank you for this day.

Lord, I thank you for what we feel.

I thank you for your presence, for your anointing, for your glory.

God, I thank you for your Spirit that's here so strongly.

It's already moving in this house.

It's already ministering in people's lives.

God, I thank you for the Spirit that's moving.

God, I pray you'd touch me.

Help me to give this word the way you gave it to me.

Help them to receive it.

Lord, I pray you'll move in this place.

Help us be sensitive to what you're doing, God.

We give you the glory and the honor in Jesus' name.

Amen.
