Loyola Game of Season?; New Trier Proves its Mettle?— Episode 258

Joe, let's get to what was the game of the week, and obviously at this point might have been the game of the year.

That was Loyola playing Brother Ice on Friday night in Wilmette.

We knew it was going to be an electric game.

It was a game that had countless Power 4 talent in it.

It was two of the best teams in the entire state, regardless of what class it was, and it lived up to the hype.

I mean, I was kind of following along, on Twitter, just, you know, the back and forth of it.

But it felt like a heavyweight fight, Joe, where at the end, Loyola got the last blow and they were able to win 27 to 24.

Yeah, I mean, we can say that... we were, we knew this would be a big time slogging off battle, but I mean, you don't know it until you see it.

And sometimes they fall flat, man.

This one had every bit of, uh, of excitement and what you want from just a top five matchup.

And, and, Clearly these two teams are among the best, if not the best in the state.

It was awesome.

They went back and forth, especially down the stretch.

They both showed that clutch gene down the stretch, just trading, you know, blow for blow when it mattered most.

And that was so cool to watch really on both ends of the field.

They had that big plays.

So yeah, I lived up to it.

Loyola survived.

What a, what a catch and throw at the end and what a, what is just a call with a one-on-one situation to Joe Howie on the outside, which, you know, reading our interviews and Neil's story, they'd been looking for that all game.

It wasn't that available.

And then there was in the most crucial moment of the game.

And Matthew Lee made the throw, how he made the catch and he was gone.

So, you know, it's the fourth quarter.

Loyola is leading at that point, I think it was 13 to 10.

So with seven minutes and 27 seconds left, you got Sam Holcomb.
