Why did nobody tell me I'd struggle in friendships?

One of the biggest surprises of motherhood wasn’t just how much my life changed… it was how much my friendships changed.  How can millions of women be becoming mothers at exactly the same time… and yet so many describe feeling lonelier than they’ve ever felt? In the wise words of Kat in this episode "friendships are tough man"!! The friendship grief no one talks about. We explore the stories we tell ourselves When a friend doesn’t check in… “They don’t care.” “I’ve been forgotten.” “I’m not important anymore.” Is the village a myth? Motherhood can feel like entering a world where everyone has an opinion and the emotional impact of feeling watched. How fear of judgement keeps mothers performing instead of connecting. Motherhood changes what we need from each other. Before children, friendship might have been about: •fun •spontaneity •shared interests •adventure After children, it often becomes about: •flexibility •emotional safety •being remembered •practical support •someone who doesn’t expect you to be “on” •someone who understands that cancelling isn’t rejection  It’s not that mothers become “bad friends.” It’s that the conditions for friendship change, and some relationships adapt while others don’t.
