HELLO TEAM, in this weeks episode of the PoddyC we discuss the current ongoing addon drama, an almost recurring weekly segment at this rate, as well as the raid testing of the upcoming 12.1 raid…
But before then, we have, uh, add-on drama news.
[laughs]
Sad news.
Like I say drama, but it's, like, it's, you know, sad.
Uh, which is Unhalted Raid Frames.
I don't know if either of you guys were Unhalted Raid Frames enjoyers.
Uh, have halted development due to abuse and harassment.
I was.
Dorink, have you seen this?
Yeah.
You a user?
Yeah, I, I was a user until Elsmer UI happened.
This was the go-to during the add-on purge.
Yeah.
It's one of, like, several add-ons that popped up in the past year and then popped down soon after.
I, I remember there was, like, a Nephew Eye was another one of these, right? Where it was like the add-on purge is happening, some new people kind of throw their hats into the add-on dev ring, and then people, they kind of get a taste of, like, how, uh, toxic the, you know, discourse in the community can be around it.
The WoW community, yo.
Classic.
Yeah.
The, the, the, [laughs] and then they're out of there.
So in this case it was, uh, Unhalted Raid Frames, they pushed a large update that added party and raid frames, indicators for ready checks and threat, and more requested features.
Unfortunately, this update also caused several unintended problems, breaking core add-on functionality, resulting in a deluge of irate comments from its user base on the project page, Discord, DMs, and other social spheres.
Several hours later, uh, the creator c- announced over Discord that the add-on would cease development entirely, uh, in direct response to the hatred and abuse received throughout the day.
Uh, the author further reminded users that add-on devs work on projects of passion and no one should be subjected to abuse or harassment for creating add-ons, closing with a final request to be kinder to one another.
