This series of ‘breakthrough’ conversations recorded in the Dash House, a cool summer pop-up space in Houston, Texas, continues as Angela has a heart-to-heart discussion with Rev. Carol Y. Guess, Esq…
Carol Y. GuessGuestIn terms of some of the through lines that you've experienced, because you said a little bit ago that not necessarily knowing that you were kind of in that pivot or that space when it was happening, how are you able to better identify when it's happening to you now?

I start seeing things kind of happen in my environment that let me know that a change is coming.

And I can say that I have the privilege of hearing the Holy Spirit very well.

And I will in prayer ask, okay, is it time for the season to end? Are these things happening because you're about to move me into another area of my life or into something else that you want me to do? But I'll see like doors closing sometimes or I'll meet a new person that is in line with something that God has revealed to me about my life before I met them.
But how are we able to better identify if we're not necessarily as tuned in or used to seeing some of the patterns or the signs? How can we become more observant?

I think that it's going to take being quiet Making time to be quiet and to listen to yourself.

You know, there are a lot of concrete thinkers out there, but I've been a concrete thinker and that didn't quite work.

So I had to adjust so that I can make sure I could hear what was being said inside of me.

Like if I'm tired and I'm worn out and it's coming from, I need to be quiet to be able to identify where being exhausted and tired is coming from.

So I would say being quiet and letting that come to the surface so you can examine it and see what's going on.
