Welcome back to The Patent Hacks Podcast, where we dive deep into the minds of today’s top innovators, builders, and leaders. I’m your host, Trevor Skene, and today I’m thrilled to welcome a guest who…
Brian J. EspositoGuestTrevor SkeneHostYeah, that's it's that you left off there because that's actually the first thing that I wanted to bring up.
I thought one of the coolest things in our kind of discussion that we had the other day was how you said you've kind of built for yourself a lot.
And I think this is something actually a lot of people we all pretty much in life strive for.
You built yourself a life where you could surround yourself with good people and cool people and you get to choose, like you said, who you work with and the projects you work on.
So you get the opportunity to just handpick like what people am I going to work with every day? What people am I going to like interface with every day? And I want to make sure that those are good people that are like fun to talk to and spend time with because then every day I wake up and I'm excited to go to work.
I'm excited to do what I do because I know I'm going to hang out with cool people and do cool things.
I'm curious, like, how did you go about, like you said there, you have now this big ecosystem, so you get to kind of handpick.
But along the way, like, how did that process of kind of trying to work with the right people kind of help shape your growth and how you got to where you are today? Oh, it was Torment.

I mean, you gotta go through a thousand awful people to find maybe a half a decent person.

And, and I don't say that in a judgmental way because, you know, to each their own, I always have to put a little bit of a disclaimer.

Like I know what works for me and the kind of people that I know work well.

that there's a very important aspect of getting your ass kicked out in the world, especially if you're a CEO, like you need to get seasoned.

And you're never going to know that unless you put your hand on the stove and realize, shit, that was hot, right? I could tell people, it's all blue in the faith.

And then fast forward a month, a year, it's five years later, that person screwed them.
