What have you learned that surprises people the most about parenting from a historical lens?

I think the notion that parents in the past, even 50 or 60 years ago, faced a number of problems that are no longer relevant,

parenting has always been Modern parenting has always been complicated with anxieties that we're not always aware of.

So the notion that parenting is particularly challenging right now is a defendable notion, the extent that you ignore past issues, some of which are relevant to thinking about parental approaches and anxieties today.

So the notion that parents are troubled, it's a good lead-in to discussing the 2020s, but it's not a good topic.

And when you look back at historical markers over the last century, what do you see as the biggest changes in children's lives and what parents feel they're expected to do? Okay.
