Welcome to The Outdoor Adventure Hour with your host, Robert Lupo. Join us each week for conversations about shooting sports, outdoor gear, skills, and the people who make these adventures possible…
What many people fail to understand is if from the shooter's perspective is where you're really judging a lot of the sound.
um that's why linear muzzle brakes often work really well with things like 22s because it's forcing this sound down range and not back or around where the shooter is and we'll talk about how you test for that so at suppress fest last year i did some recordings And one of the things I kept talking to people about, and it's because it got brought up to me, it was, do you remember when suppressors suppressed sound? And that you weren't constantly going, crap.
If you believe that you have to have subsonic ammo for a suppressor to work, you should probably go out and buy a suppressor and understand how they work better.
So like for a hog hunting, I have a 300 blackout with a short barrel and a built-in suppressor and it's quiet for me to shoot but shooting subsonic I don't have to worry about spooking the pigs because they can hear the crack but when you bring everything down to a whisper it's day and night difference so Does subsonic help? Yes.
So before you go out and buy a suppressor or before you buy your next suppressor, we're going to talk about things that you should ask, you should check, um, Suppressor companies are a dime a dozen right now.
I mean, there's people who are like, oh yeah, we just started up and I'm making my own cans and blah, blah, blah.
And I'm like, how are you testing them? Don't spend even $100 or $200 on a can unless you're able to ask them questions.
absolute crap period but you have suppressors out there from companies who have a clue of what they're doing and they make really good suppressors why do I have free banner suppressors because they're quiet and they're good I like them they do a great job my sparrow suppressor is fantastic And you've seen these in some of my videos.
