Tony, let's start with what is NEST? I, I, s- I, I, I assume both locals and guests alike, um, probably don't know it as well as some of the other nonprofits on the Outer Banks, so let's change that today.

What is NEST, how did it start, and what is the, the great work that you're doing there?
Our mission is to preserve and protect sea turtles, and the area we cover is essentially from South Nags Head to the Virginia state line.

So when we say Northern Outer Banks, that area for the Northern Outer Banks would be Corolla, Crova, the four by four area.

That's the area that's specific to the Northern Outer Banks, but it extends down as far south as South Nags Head, correct?
Uh, so our nesting season, it runs, uh, from the latter part of May through, uh, through August when the nests are actually laid, and then, uh, beyond that into October and November, uh, potentially for when hatchlings emerge.

How did you end up living in this area, and then what was your journey from, from there to becoming the president of NEST?
Uh, we found out about NEST, uh, just talking to people and, uh, decided that was something we would like to do.
So my wife and I got involved as volunteers in NEST, uh, basically a few months after we got here.
And then five years ago, I was elected, uh, as a director at large, uh, so as a member of the board, and then four years ago was elected president.
