I used to be a police officer, then had a bit of a career pivot, and now I do stand-up comedy.
You might have heard of my Radio 4 series, It's a Fair Cop, or maybe you've come along to one of my live shows.
In this series, I'll be chatting to some familiar faces about the neighbourhood where they grew up and their experiences or the experience of people close to them as victims of crime.
During that conversation, we'll be joined by a police officer or an expert in the field who'll provide advice and key information should you find yourself or know someone who's going through a similar experience.
My guest today is Ruth Doddsworth, a broadcaster, journalist and weather presenter whose credits include ITV, ITN, Good Morning Britain and Coast and Country.
Ruth has publicly shared her experiences as a survivor of coercive control and domestic abuse by her former husband.
If I had gone home that night, there is absolutely no doubt I wouldn't be here.
And I suddenly found myself in this really strange world where the previous 20 years of my life, my existence, suddenly were exposed as a complete sham.
Ruth was awarded an OBE in 2025 for services to domestic abuse survivors, and I'm delighted to welcome her to the Neighbourhood Watch podcast.
