Rashi famously points out that when the Rabban Hashem told Avraham Avinu where he needs to leave and where he needs to go at an exit, but the Rabban Hashem did not tell him where the destination is.
All he told him was, go to the land that I will show you will become clear to you.
As you go out and travel on your destination, it will become clear to you where the land that you're supposed to get to is.
And therefore, says Rashi, why did Rabban Hashem do it? In order to go ahead and give an extra measure of Shechar to Avraham Avinu by not telling him exactly where he needed to go.
It wasn't just happened to be that Rabban Hashem wanted to give Avraham Avinu extra Shechar and that's why he didn't reveal it to him.
Rather, the fact that Rabban Hashem didn't reveal him where he was going was essential To have Ramavino, the first Yid, entering into the land of Eretz Yisrael.
This ability to be able to say that there's something called Eloaretz Asher Areka.
The ability to be able to go on a journey that I don't know where the destination is.
The ability to pack everything up and to be able to say, not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally, I'm ready to go out and to go on a journey, even though I don't understand exactly where I'm going.
But I'm ready to be mevatel all of my chushim, all of my senses, and all of my ritzainis.
What is Eretz Yisroel? What does it look like? It doesn't just look like a physical land.
The way to be able to get to the physical land, the way to be able to get the spirituality of Eretz Yisroel, wherever a person is, is a person going in and saying, I'm ready to follow your path, even though I don't know where the destination is, even though I don't know where this path is going to lead me.
and I'm going to leave behind my basic comforts, not just the physical comforts that I have, living in a place that I'm comfortable in, living in a place that I'm used to, but also leaving behind the ideas that I may think are so cemented in reality, to be able to leave that all behind.
