Stop Chasing Speed And Start Releasing It

Send us Fan Mail Christmas Eve energy, packed bags, and a golf sabbatical on deck puts us in the perfect mood to talk about the kind of places golfers whisper about. We trade notes on Chattanooga as a surprisingly deep golf destination, why courses like Wade Hampton and The Honors can stay “if you know you know,” and why a phone-free vibe often leads to better focus and better swings. From there, we shift into the question so many serious golfers face when tournament season winds down: what should an offseason plan actually look like? We walk through why taking a short break can be the smartest first move, how to review your season with objective golf stats, and how to separate a strategy problem from a swing problem. We also talk about benchmarking progress without pretending improvement follows a clean, linear timeline. Then we get technical in the best way: why chasing swing speed can be a trap, how kinetic sequence and kinematic sequence influence power, and how common issues like early extension and handle dragging show up when golfers never learn to release the club. Michael breaks down lateral shift versus “sway,” explains reverse spine angle in plain language, and shares an L-to-L release concept that helps you square the face without panic-flipping or yanking it left. We also discuss how force plates, TrackMan, and 3D motion capture can help identify the low-hanging fruit that fixes multiple problems at once. If you got value from this, subscribe, share it with a golf buddy who’s stuck, and leave a review.
