Don’t Kiss the Snake0:19 – 4:14

0:19

On November 17, 2002, a rattlesnake bit 21-year-old Matt George on the lip when he tried to kiss it.

0:33

George caught the two-foot-long snake on a trip to Arizona, and he took it home with him to Yacolt, Washington.

0:43

Tried to make it a pet.

0:47

George grabbed the snake one day while friends were visiting him.

0:53

He grabbed the snake behind the head and he gave it a kiss.

0:57

His friend said, don't do that, that's stupid.

1:00

He said, I do it all the time.

1:02

He did it again, but this time the snake bit him under his mustache.

1:09

George lost consciousness, went limp, eyes rolled back in his head and was life lifted to Portland, Oregon.

1:18

He survived the ordeal.

1:22

And his story serves as a helpful reminder for all of us.

1:29

And that is Satan is not a pet.

1:35

And temptation is not something with which to be played.

1:41

In fact, I think we could condense today's message down to one admonition.

1:47

Don't kiss the snake.

1:51

Do not give, Scripture says, do not give the devil a foothold.

2:01

I don't mean to disturb you, but every so often I do need to remind you there is a devil.

2:11

We have an enemy.

2:13

And we do ourselves no favor whatsoever by dismissing him as a myth.

2:22

There is an evil one.

2:24

He has subjects.

2:26

He has an agenda.

2:28

He has targets.

2:30

We are at war.

2:32

Satan has one objective and that is simply this, only to steal and kill and destroy.
