Send Fletch a Voicemail or Text! I didn’t disappear, life just got loud and summer got full and that’s exactly why I wanted to hit record again…
Let's see, what else? There's been some more experimenting with stand-up comedy because apparently after all day of being a dentist, I like to spend my evenings trying [chuckles] to find other ways to make people feel uncomfortable.
It's actually been a really fun experiment for me to get up behind a mic and just go out and make some people laugh, but also just to watch people not laugh, to bomb, and to see what that feels like to just say, "Here's a joke I thought of.
Oh, no one else thought it was funny? That's okay.
I can just move on." People ask all the time, "How do you do it? How do you go up?" Well, my favorite question is when people say, "How do you do that, Fletch? How do you go up on a microphone and, and just perform while no one laughs?" And I always like to correct people.
That, that's actually not the goal.
[laughs] The goal is to actually make people laugh.
But yeah, it is a thing.
You know, you, you get up and you think of some funny...
You know, in my case, uh, the bits I come up with aren't just, like, standard bum-bum-bum jokes.
They're, they're more like reflections on life.
And if someone doesn't think it's funny, that's okay.
There's a lot of people who bomb, and that is what I finally got to, was the point where I said, "Well, I can go up and bomb, so why not?" But I have been going to a lot of local stand-up comedy, a lot of pop-up comedy, a lot of...
We, we have this one comedy show in our area where you don't know where it's gonna be or when it's gonna be until the morning of.
So you sign up unknown.
You have no idea who the comedians are gonna be or its location, and then it's just a pop-up comedy show.
That's been a ton of fun to go to and just kinda be in that world.
I've also been kicking around some improv ideas.
There's a new little group that I've been working on with my buddy Isaac called Two Guys Improv, and we're gonna see where that goes.
But for now, it's Two Guys Improv just because there's just two of us.
So we have some local gigs that we're gonna be performing at and hopefully build a new improv troupe.
Apparently, I mean, if you think about it, I'm collecting hobbies that include standing in front of people [chuckles] without even knowing what I'm doing.
That's the improv and the comedy.
